А вы хотите зарабатывать с блога? [Mar. 29th, 2010|09:40 pm]
Geeky for YOU!

shapranov

1. Why do you consider yourself a geek? I majored in Philosophy, I read for fun, I love 80s cartoons (I started wearing Rainbow Brite T-Shirts again back in '99, before it was cool) I crochet, cross-stitch and make things out of polymer clay.
2. What type of geeky things have you done? I've volunteered at academic conferences, I was on the executive of the undergrad philosophy society for 3 years, my idea of a night out is a few drinks and playing Wii/PS2/Trivial Pursuit
3. What geeky activities do you participate in? see above
4. What geeky ‘traits’ do you have? passion for cartoons, the uncontrolable urge to correct grammar and pronunciation, buying books is better than buying anything else.
5 Add one more thing about yourself that makes you geekish: I've read the LOTR trilogy 4 times, my goal is to beat my mother's record of 15. I've read the Hitchhiker's "triolgy" 6 times.

Favorites: (1-5 answers for each, please)
-Video games (either consol or computer): Zelda, Mariokart, Kings Quest, Risk (I suck at the table version, but I love the computer versions)
-Movies: Corpse Bride, Mary Poppins, 300
-Bands/Artists: Uhhh... Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Johnny Cash, Nirvana
-Cars: Stingray, Mini, 911
-TV shows: House, Ugly Betty, MythBusters, Family Guy, Bones
-Books: Ha! Can't do that. Author though... Neil Gaiman, Margaret Atwood, Tolkien, CS Lewis

But according to the following I'm not a geek...

Geeky for YOU!

chiroptera91
Name: Petra
Age: 16 in less than two months
Sex: Female
Status: Being me. Alone.
Location: In the south of Sweden

1. Why do you consider yourself a geek?
I like some tings that people around me consider geeky: reading, writing, role-playing, knitting/crocheting/cross stitching, other thingies. I'm also incredibly obsessed with grammar, causing my friend to die from giggle every time I hiss to her that a teacher abused grammar again. I breed rabbits for show purposes. ...um... yeah...

2. What type of geeky things have you done?
I've travelled in a bus for eighteen hours to get to a rabbit show. I commute three hours every day to go to a school that interests me. (...Don't you hate the way that you never can come up with examples when you need them?)

3. What geeky activities do you participate in?
I role-play in a fandom for Tamora Pierce, and I'm in the board for the rabbit community.

4. What geeky ‘traits’ do you have?
How do you mean? Blurting out as soon as someone says something without grammar?

5. Add one more thing about yourself that makes you geekish:
I go to school where all education is held in my second language, and I spend all my free time online, where I role-play. Again in my second language.

Favorites: (1-5 answers for each, please)
-Video games (either consol or computer): Harvest Moon (any of them), Zelda (any of them except for Majora's Mask), and Pokémon. Though I know too little about Pokémon.
-Movies: Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Austin Powers, The Addams Family
-Bands/Artists: Helen Sjöholm, Tommy Körberg, Scissor Sisters, Nightwish, Within Temptation
-Cars: ...urr, I don't particularly like cars? Volvo are good, I suppose, as they're Swedish.
-TV shows: Ugly Betty, House, something that I can't remember what it's called right now. I don't spend much time in front of the TV...
-Books: Squire, by Tamora Pierce, Big Mouth Ugly Girl, by Joyce Carol Oates, The Little White Horse, by Elizabeth Goudge, and more.

And just for fun; anything else you want to add to sway us a little more?
*narrows eyes* I will if I remember something...

Age: Nearly 20
Sex: Female
Status: Very Single
Location: England

1. Why do you consider yourself a geek?
In High School I was your 'classic geek', y'know, big glasses, daft fringe, did homework on the day I got it etc. Now I'm a uni student I enjoy reading Medieval Literature and I spend far too much time on the webternet.

2. What type of geeky things have you done?
Today I created my second LJ (this one) cos I'd rather strangers read what I thought rather than the people I know. They judge too much.

3. What geeky activities do you participate in?
I go to far too many gigs, I've got myself into debt with it. Love 80's music, and emo though I don't like admitting it! And in pubs I'm 'that girl' who choses songs on the jukebox that make everyone else groan.

4. What geeky ‘traits’ do you have?
I say stupid things constantly, whitter about nothing much in particular and I have mild OCD. I say 'lol' too much even though I hate it, and I'm insecure to the max! (Lol, and I tell people about it, go figure.)

5. Add one more thing about yourself that makes you geekish:
I've watched all 3 Lord of the Rings films consecutively about 20 times now.

Favorites: (1-5 answers for each, please)
-Video games (either consol or computer):
1. Monkey Island (specially 3)
2. Theme Hospital
3. Banjo Kazooie (only console game I've ever managed to complete by myself!)
4. Sonic the Hedgehog
5. Civilization (old school!)

-Movies:
1. LOTR Trilogy
2. Scream Trilogy
3. Nightmare Before Christmas
4. Donnie Darko
5. Mystery Men

-Bands/Artists:
1. Placebo
2. The Faint
3. Muse
4. My Chemical Romance
5. Ok Go

-Cars:
Sorry, know absolutely nothing about cars! Beetles are groovy though.

-TV shows:
1. Black Books
2. Hollyoaks
3. Desperate Housewives
4. Lost
5. Shipwrecked

-Books:
1. Bridget Jones' Diary
2. Bridget Jones: The edge of Reason
3. LOTR Trilogy
4. A Chaste Maid in Cheapside
5. Finding Cassie Crazy

And just for fun; anything else you want to add to sway us a little more?
Right now, I'm sat eating chocolate in my jammies at 4.45pm

1. Why do you consider yourself a geek? My entire life I've had difficulty finding like-minded people and a place to fit in. I'm a passionate scientist. In highschool I used to read my biology and physics books for the heck of it, and I thought calculus was fun! I'm a very nice person, but I tend to avoid social situations; here at college I hang out more with my professors than my friends and I spend the weekends at the local observatory, going to museums or attending lectures rather than partying.

2. What type of geeky things have you done?
collected/collect pokemon and magic cards, learned extinct languages for fun, 1 5p34|< 1337, done math problems for fun, read text books for fun, play video games, learned to write backwards in cursive ala Leonardo DaVinci, memorized the first 100 digets of pi

3. What geeky activities do you participate in?
play video games, read for pleasure, watch documentaries, sit in on classes I'm not taking because I think they're interesting, watch anime, read comic books

4. What geeky ‘traits’ do you have?
intelligent, socially challeneged

5 Add one more thing about yourself that makes you geekish:
I own and play a didgeridoo.

Favorites: (1-5 answers for each, please)
-Video games (either consol or computer): Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Mario Kart, Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros
-Movies: Monty Python's Holy Grail, Star Wars:Empire strikes back, Stalingrad, Grave of the Fireflies, History of the World: Part I
-Bands/Artists: Billy Joel, Depeche Mode, Yatsunori Mitsuda, Apocalyptica, Blue Oyster Cult
-Cars: fuel efficient, hybrids, ones with wheels, engines and a good stero system
-TV shows: Monk, Family Guy, Simpsons, South Park, The Colbert Report
-Books: 1984, Catch 22, Pride and Prejudice, War is a Force that GIves Us Meaning, Siddartha

1. Why do you consider yourself a geek? I know excessively much about sci-fi movies, television and I am socially challenged. Can you say VR, V, Alien Nation, Nowhere Man, Hitchhikers, Dune, Bradbury, etc….

2. What type of geeky things have you done? Argued with my friends about the validity of sci-fi TV and movies. I used to watch Sci-Fi world and Sliders in the evenings like it was my religion. I love sci-fi chain reactions. Buffy, Angel and I have an unusual relationship.

3. What geeky activities do you participate in? I used to play D & D but currently I do not have a group to play with. I love to watch Nova and Frontline.

4. What geeky ‘traits’ do you have? Did I mention being socially inept. I like Sundance films. I go to artsy movies.

5 Add one more thing about yourself that makes you geekish: I did not have sex or go on my first date until I was an adult.

Favorites: (1-5 answers for each, please)

-Bands/Artists: 4
-Cars: 1
-TV shows: 5

And just for fun; anything else you want to add to sway us a little more? (optional)
I own all of the Star Trek movies. I miss cable because I cannot see the new BSG series. I hate the loss of the X-Files and even the Lone Gunmen.
